Stay Connected to Your Alma Mater
After graduation, it’s time to take the next step in life. But what happens to your relationship with the place where you spent three to five years? Do you cut ties? Do you simply move on and never look back?
Maintaining a relationship with Angelo State is important even after you walk across the stage at commencement. Life will go on, of course, but Angelo State will always be a part of who you are.
Every student also leaves a mark on ASU. The marks we make as students improve the university as a whole. In the three years I have been at Angelo State, I have seen the campus flourish. Many art pieces have been added as well as the large banner on the side of the University Center. Not only have there been physical improvements, but the university expands in places we might not think about. Angelo State continues to thrive and current and past students contribute to this change.
As a student employee of the ASU Alumni Association, I have grown to understand how Angelo State makes an impression on students long after they are gone. As someone who interacts with alumni on a daily basis, I hear from many former students who are eager to keep up with Angelo State and to give back. Many love to hear about what is happening and enjoy seeing how much the campus has changed.
As I prepare to start my senior year, I attribute many of my educational opportunities and accomplishments to Angelo State. I have gained great experience from two different jobs on campus as well as being included in some great projects. As students, we are putting in a lot of work while attending school. After I graduate and move on to new adventures, I will never forget Angelo State. I am grateful for everything I have accomplished and will continue to assign many of my successes to the place I have called home.
Don’t be shy after leaving Angelo State. The alumni association is a great starting point if you want to continue a relationship with ASU. An alumni association membership offers many benefits to those who join. Once I finish my undergraduate degree, I hope to share my own stories with others. As I continue my work with the alumni association, my appreciation for this school grows stronger.
Now it’s easier than ever to stay connected. With social media growing, immediate updates about Angelo State are continually being posted. I am able to share pictures and information through our social media pages and website. I enjoy reading the comments and getting responses. I know the information I am putting out is being enjoyed.
Angelo State will always be a place you dedicated your time to, and it marks an important achievement in your educational career. Just because you graduate doesn’t mean you are no longer a Ram. Don’t lose touch with your alma mater because it’s never going anywhere—you can always call ASU home.
