9 College Life Hacks
My first two years in college have taught me many new things about how to organize my student lifestyle. Here are nine tips and tricks I picked up along the way or wish I had known earlier.
1. File Your T-shirts
Fold your T-shirts and stack them vertically. This will enable you to see all of your clothes, while also saving space in your drawers!
2. Make Your Schedule Your Lock Screen
To make your first few days of school easier, set your schedule as your lock screen on your cell phone. Check online for instructions for your particular phone or suggestions of apps to help you set this up.
3. Color Code Your Notebooks
This one saved me! Color coding your notebooks for each class will help you distinguish each one and save you from having to use the wrong notebook or walk back to get the right one.
4. Dryer Sheet Air Freshener
If your room starts to smell funny, simply place a dryer sheet or two over the fan or vent.
5. Amplify Your Phone Alarm
If you are a heavy sleeper, try out this alarm trick. Place your phone inside a glass cup to help amplify the sound.
6. Save Your Change
Collect all of your coins in a big jar or bottle. By the time the container is full, you may have enough for a few fast food trips.
7. Try Some Microwave Mug Recipes
Learn a few microwave mug recipes, which can range from scrambled eggs to sweet-tooth snacks. Find recipes with a simple Google search of “microwave mug recipes.” You may just be a great microwave chef! Who knows?
8. Washi Tape
This is a great new trend that gives your wall art a framed look. Washi tape is inexpensive and easy to use. Plus, it works somewhat like masking tape and doesn’t peel the paint off walls. The tape is widely available online and in craft stores in a variety of styles and colors.
9. Chewing Gum Memory Trick
This may sound crazy, but I have used this trick and it worked! Chewing a distinct gum flavor while studying and then chewing that same flavor during your exam may help you recall the information for your exam.
