Everyone seems so excited to be back to school!! I’ve never seen so many people on campus which I f ind totally exciting! I see that people are all wearing their free shirts they recieved at Rambunctious Weekend! They are aready becoming in touch with ASU’s excitement. First day of class is always the same routine…going over the syllabus. I think in every one of my classes we went over the syllabus and then our proffesor let us go. But I do know some of my friend’s classes already began lectures. My brother has now moved into my apartment and he seems to be enjoying the college experience so far. He’s crazy…he had my mom spend over two hundred dollars of groceries. I don’t think he realizes yet that as college students we are on a buget and you can’t go spending that kind of money on just a few groceries. I know when I went grocery shopping for the first time I realized that I couldn’t grab just anything and put it in the basket. I had to check the prices and think if it was worth buying the product. Now I’m getting myself into the habit of purchasing products that I can make that will last at least for the week. For example, I purchase spagetti, which last for a few good days or I’ll buy chicken to make a soup or something.
I am taking my first practicum, which is the math portion of it. Our first day we did a hands on activity where we had to work a word problem and write our results on a poster sheet. We were required to write everything we thought of to find the product. Not only did she want the answer but also how we found the answer. We were all grouped in groups of four so it was great that we had more than one mind working the problem. When each group displayed their results it was surprising to see how everyone worked the problem differently. Some drew pictures, others use decimals, or completed the problem using algebra. I think this activity was a great way to start the class. The proffesor went on and discussed the purpose of the activity and the overall summary of what this math praticum requires. Seems to me that I am going to have one busy semester, but I’m totally excited that I’m so close to graduation.
